Keeping kids busy for an extended period of time requires some imagination on the part of a parent or caretaker. Kids must be given activities that engage their hands, as well as their heads.
Making a scrapbook is a very good way to achieve that, especially on days that kids can’t go outside – like when it is raining hard or during the evenings. Scrapbooks are also a good way for parents to bond with their kids, as pictures give the perfect opportunity to reminisce and tell stories to children. Scrapbooks are also easy to do, with kids being able to develop their creativity.
For the scrapbooking activity, you would need the following materials:
Some pictures
Pencil
Ruler
Colored markers
Scissors
Art paper
Construction paper
Glue
Loose leaf binder
Pieces of cardboard, or oslo paper
Then, the scrapbooking procedures are as follows:
1. Make designs for your scrapbook pages. You can create themes, such as stars, under the sea, or any motif of your choice.
2. To make the designs, sketch it at the back of a piece of construction or art paper. Cut it with scissors. Paste it in an oslo paper or cardboard, then leave to dry.
3. Crop the pictures to your desired size. You can use fancy scissors.
4. Place the pictures over the designs.
5. Make captions for your pictures by using colored markers to write on the pages of your scrapbook. You can also make computer printouts and paste them on your scrapbook.
6. Punch holes on the side of the pages of your scrapbook. Place the finished pages on the loose leaf binder.
7. Make a cover page for your scrapbook using another sheet of paper or cardboard. You can put designs over it and put a title. For example, if your scrapbook contains pictures of your beach trip, you can put “A Day at the Beach” or any appropriate title.
8. After this, you can now enjoy looking at your scrapbook! You can even show it to your visitors, relatives, and friends.
